Carrageenan

So you think you’re doing good by drinking coconut, almond, or even hemp milk. But there’s a villian lurking in your non-dairy milks: Carrageenan. This food additive is found in red seaweed and is placed in such foods as dairy (chocolate milk, whipping cream, ice cream, sour cream, cottage cheese), dairy alternatives (soy, almond, hemp, coconut milk, soy desserts), nutritional drinks (Ensure, SlimFast, Carnation Breakfast Essentials), meats (turkey, prepared chicken) and prepared foods (canned soup, broth, frozen pizza). Carrageenan is linked to gastrointestinal inflammation and high rates of intestinal ulcerations, lesions, and malignant tumors. The unique chemical structure of carrageenan triggers an immune response in the body, which recognizes it as a dangerous invader. This response leads to inflammation. So: Check your labels!!
