Cooking Oil Ranking
So you’re shopping in the store and come across a wide array of oils. You think to yourself, “well there is the extra virgin olive oil Rachael Ray is always talking about cooking with.” Wrong. So many people are mistaken when it comes to what oil to cook with. First cold pressed extra virgin olive oil is the best oil RAW: meaning UNCOOKED. Olive oil has a low smoke point (around 210 degrees) so once that temperature is reached, it turns to trans fat. Anything with a higher smoke point than that is better to cook with.
Here is a mini cooking oil ranking: Avocado Oil (smoke point of 520 degrees), Macadamia Nut Oil (450 degrees), Coconut Oil (375 degrees) and even Canola Oil (350 degrees). So the next time your lost in the oil section of the store, remember these few oils for cooking, and first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil for uncooked uses such as salad and quinoa dressing.
